Making Nature your bedroom for a night or two…

Inspired by Laurie’s own experience camping when she was a kid (check out our full chat with her below!), and knowing the impact it had on the trajectory of her life, we want to encourage YOU to book and plan your next Nature adventure! You may not be 14 years old, as Laurie was on her first camping trip, younger or older, we can all benefit from a night or two out in the wild.

Check out our list below for all the equipment you’ll need and get inspired with our Nature connection prompts and tips to ensure you’re making the most out of your camping experience!

Equipment essentials

  • Tent
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Water (plenty!)
  • Headlamps and/or flashlights (don’t forget extra batteries)
  • Pillow
  • Blanket
  • Appropriate footwear – you might want to consider one that’s waterproof and comfortable!
  • Food
  • Camp cooking equipment
  • Check the weather ahead of time

Extra: bring some cards or fun, non-digital games to play with your friends and family.

Note: it’s always a good idea to let a neighbor and/or loved one know where you’re going to set your campsite at and when you are expected to be back.

Ps… there are organisations like Alpkit Foundation working to make the outdoors more accessible; individuals, community groups, schools and other organisations can apply for funding to engage in outdoor experiences!

Nature Connection Prompts – to reflect on while and after camping

  • Tune into your body and surroundings. List one thing you see, hear, smell, taste and touch.
  • What did Nature offer you today? Sunshine, wind, funny shaped clouds…
  • Which critters did you see? What were they up to? How would it feel to be them for a day?
  • Where was beauty hiding today?
  • What were some of the emotions you felt today? What prompted them? Why?
  • How would you describe your relationship with Nature before and after this trip? Why?
