PARTNER FEATURE: Ss John Fisher & Thomas More Roman Catholic High School
Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School in Colne, Pendle is a community where faith, excellence, and hard work are celebrated.
Fisher More’s mission is to provide a supportive environment where these qualities can flourish. They offer a rigorous academic curriculum, supported by dedicated educators who inspire students to reach their full potential.
The second ReWild Yourself Community Hub is located next to Ss John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School.
We are working closely with the school throughout all stages of the project to create a welcoming, inclusive space for both the students and the local community.
Over one hundred pupils from the school helped us plant 3500 trees for the second ERANDA Forest planting on a warm, spring day in May 2025.
We will work closely with and facilitate the implementation of the ideas gathered during planting day, and have the Pendle Hub be truly shaped by the community, for the community.
Benefits of having a space to connect with Nature at school:
When children connect with Nature, significant improvements to physical and psychological health are observed. Exposure to Nature in a school day has been observed to improve emotional regulation, as well as social development.
It’s not just about time in Nature, it’s about the right moments. Several studies have shown a correlation between increased Nature-connection and pro-environmental behaviour. Which is why part of the project invites students from the school to take part in the ReWild Yourself Community Programme, a programme created to foster and nourish quality moments with Nature.
