Bluecoat Beechdale Academy – PARTNER FEATURE
Bluecoat Beechdale Academy in Nottingham is one of a family of academies managed by the Archway Learning Trust. It is a diverse Academy that welcomes students and staff from all backgrounds.
Bluecoat Beechdale Academy is built around the three ideas of Belong, Believe and Achieve. These core values run through all aspects of academy life, where they expect students to be positive, resilient, kind and curious.
The first ReWild Yourself Community Hub is located at Bluecoat Beechdale Academy. We are working closely with the school throughout all stages of the project to create a welcoming, inclusive space for both the students and the local community.
Over sixty pupils from the school helped us plant 3000 trees for our first ERANDA forest planted on a gloriously sunny day in November 2025.
We will work closely with and facilitate the implementation of the ideas gathered by their newly-established school eco-group. The group is passionate about having more trees at their school, and keen to get more involved with the ReWild Yourself Community Hub as their main project.
Benefits of having a space to connect with Nature at school:
When children connect with Nature, significant improvements to physical and psychological health are observed. Exposure to Nature in a school day has been observed to improve emotional regulation, as well as social development.
It’s not just about time in Nature, it’s about the right moments. Several studies have shown a correlation between increased Nature-connection and pro-environmental behaviour. Which is why part of the project invites students from Bluecoat Beechdale Academy to take part in the ReWild Yourself Community Programme, a programme created to foster and nourish quality moments with Nature. More on this soon.
